Department of Computing Science Studies
Master Degree Programme
Currently, the CSS Department hosts one master degree programme, namely:
- Master of Science in Information Technology (MSc. IT)
Upon completion of the Master of Science in Information Technology and Systems students shall be able to demonstrate theoretical and applied knowledge, competence, and skills in the following areas of computing sciences at an advanced level, among others:
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze, design and implement sophisticated systems, which at large, solve industry problems related to management of information and business processes
- Demonstrate the ability to assess a society and business environment and reveal problems that need technical solutions and propose an envisioned solutions
- Demonstrate mastery of information technology leadership, business, and ethical decision-making skills and how to integrate emerging strategic IT issues into the corporate business strategy
- Demonstrate mastery of emerging technologies in IT infrastructures, software development, IT systems management including IT security and to appreciate the necessity for continuing professional development
- Demonstrate higher expertise capable of training undergraduate programmes and lower levels for the following courses, among others:
- Theory of Programming Languages
- Software Engineering and Project Management
- Computer Communication Network
- Databases and data modeling
- Operating Systems and computer architecture
- Artificial Intelligent
- Computer Simulation
- Computer Algorithms
Applicants for the Master of Science in Information Technology must have completed bachelor degree or equivalent in appropriate area. The following are the minimal admission requirements:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in appropriate area with at least a lower second class degree in the discipline of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, ICT, Social informatics or any other computing science specialization.
OR
- A bachelor degree in any scientific discipline with at least lower second and a postgraduate diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, ICT, Social informatics or any other computing science specialization.
